Overview
Shipowning is where the group began. We acquired our first two handysize bulk carriers in 2018 and have added selectively since, always at or below replacement cost and always with a charter in hand or in advanced negotiation.
The fleet today comprises four vessels — two supramax dry bulk carriers and two 1,800 TEU container feeders — with an aggregate 168,000 deadweight tonnes. All four are employed on period charters of twelve months or longer, which gives the group a predictable base of charter income and keeps us out of the spot market at the bottom of the cycle.
We underwrite every acquisition on scrap value plus two years of charter income, so the downside is an asset we can hold rather than a loss we must crystallise.
