Our Approach
How we invest
We look for established, cash-generating businesses in sectors where physical assets and operating skill still matter. We are comfortable being the controlling shareholder and equally comfortable being a minority partner to an operator we trust — what we will not do is write a cheque and look away.
Control investments
Majority positions in established operating businesses where we take responsibility for governance and capital structure.
We acquire majority or wholly owned positions in businesses with an established operating record, existing management we want to keep, and physical assets or contracted revenue underpinning value. We appoint the chairman, set the reporting framework and underwrite the balance sheet.
- Majority or 100% ownership
- Chairman appointed by Sailor Capital
- Monthly management reporting from completion
- Capital structure and banking led by us
Partnership stakes
Minority positions alongside founders who stay in control — always with a board seat and real information rights.
Where an operator is better than anything we could build, we would rather own part of it than compete with it. We take meaningful minority stakes with a board seat, audit committee involvement and the same monthly reporting discipline we apply to our controlled businesses.
- Board seat and audit committee involvement
- Founders retain operational control
- Reserved matters agreed before completion
- Follow-on capital available for growth
Real assets
Vessels, buildings and production facilities bought at or below replacement cost, with income contracted before we commit.
Hard assets are the foundation of the group. We buy them with a charter, lease or offtake already in hand, finance them conservatively, and keep the technical management close so that the asset's condition never becomes a surprise at the point of sale.
- Acquired at or below replacement cost
- Income contracted before completion
- Conservative loan-to-value with stress testing
- Technical management retained in-group
Value creation
Banking relationships, group procurement, financial discipline and senior hiring — the work that happens after completion.
Our contribution after completion is deliberately practical. We refinance expensive debt through our Singapore and Hong Kong banking relationships, tender insurance and major supply contracts across the whole group, install reporting that lenders recognise, and help recruit the two or three senior people who usually make the difference.
- Refinancing through group banking relationships
- Insurance and supply tendered group-wide
- Reporting pack lenders and buyers recognise
- Senior recruitment from our regional network

How a deal moves
From first email to completion, usually four months
First read
A partner reads every proposal personally. You receive a yes, a no, or a specific question within five working days — never silence.
Site visit
Before any term sheet we visit the operation, meet the team on their own ground and talk to customers and suppliers.
Terms and diligence
Indicative terms within three weeks of the visit; financial, legal, technical and ESG diligence run in parallel over six to ten weeks.
Completion
Funds come from our own balance sheet, so completion does not depend on raising a fund or syndicating the deal.
Ownership
A partner joins the board, monthly reporting begins, and the hundred-day plan agreed before signing starts on day one.
Where we add value
The unglamorous work that actually moves the numbers
Banking and capital structure
Access to our Singapore and Hong Kong lending relationships, and help refinancing expensive or short-dated debt.
Cross-portfolio procurement
Fuel, insurance, maintenance and logistics tendered across the group rather than company by company.
Financial discipline
We install a reporting pack, budget process and audit relationship that lenders and future buyers recognise.
Senior hiring
We help recruit finance directors, technical managers and country heads from our own network across the region.
